Where our roses come from

Our roses are Tessa, grade 1A

Our classic roses come from Tessa – an Ecuadorian grower with almost 30 years of experience, growing roses high in the Andes. We buy them in grade 1A – first quality, so only selected blooms go into your bouquet: large, full heads on straight, strong stems.

How many roses should I give?

In Bulgaria, flowers for happy occasions are given in odd numbers. By tradition, even numbers are only for funerals and sad occasions. Here is how to choose for the occasion:

Choose how many roses

1 rose – a gesture for no reason, or “thinking of you”.
3–5 roses – a first date, a thank-you, a small surprise.
15 roses – a birthday, an anniversary, an apology.
51 roses – a big gesture: a milestone birthday or “I love you” out loud.
101 roses – the most striking gift: a marriage proposal or a round anniversary.

How to keep roses fresh for longer

Well-cared-for Ecuadorian roses last 7–10 days in a vase, often longer. The secret is clean water, a fresh cut and staying away from heat.

01

Cut the stems

Cut 2–3 cm off at an angle with a sharp knife or scissors.

02

Remove the lower leaves

Leaves under water rot and cloud the water.

03

Vase and flower food

A clean vase, room-temperature water and the flower food that comes with your bouquet.

04

Change the water

Every 2 days, trimming another 1 cm off the stems.

05

Keep away from heat

Away from radiators, direct sun and fruit – ripening fruit makes flowers wilt faster.

Rose drooping? Re-cut the stem, wrap the head in paper and stand it for a few hours in deep, lukewarm water – it usually perks up.
